Well i can tell you they ain’t spoke to me in the 11 years i’ve lived back in this place, and they didn’t talk to me during the first 18 years of my life here either… sorry if i sound confrontational, it’s hard to get a written point across with a smile… and i refuse smilies! I don’t believe in them either and if i could spoil them then i would!

Voting in other elections is perhaps more worthwhile, but westminister is a waste of time… in my humble grumpy opinion… take care

If you don’t vote it’s called apathy… by spoiling your vote you are registering your disgust with this sectarian political system. 30% don’t vote, that’s more than vote for any of the main NI parties, but by spoiling your making a statement… maybe idealistic but sure, better living with your head in the clouds than staring at the reality of this lot…

But if loads of people vote Lib Dem, it could make it a little more marginal and maybe more will vote for them next time? Parliament could always collapse fairly soon if it’s hung… And if there’s a Lib Dem/Lab coalition, people might be more inclined to vote for one of those in another election to make whoever wins stronger.
But, y’know, there really is no point in voting in FPTP. Which is why I’m voting Lib Dem (along with a million other reasons). I think people are starting to realise how important PR is, so maybe we could see some change soon (although Labour did pledge this in (’97).

BUT Anne Widdecombe is standing down, and many people in Maidstone vote for her rather than the Conservatives as a party, so maybe your vote in Maidstone is worth more than catch-all statistics imply? After all, they’re not taking individual factors into account… I think the Lib Dems have a chance in Maidstone, especially given recent happenings and the amount of votes they get in local elections.
